The SHIELD PCP project has launched its User Observatory Group (UOG) to engage practitioners in shaping new solutions for public space protection. The group will bring together security experts from across Europe to ensure the project reflects real operational needs.
The UOG provides a structured forum for practitioners to share their experience and contribute directly to the development of tools that support safer and better-coordinated responses in crowded or complex environments. By involving those who work daily in public space protection—such as law enforcement agencies, first responders and public authorities—the project ensures that innovation is firmly aligned with operational realities.
Members of the UOG will play an active role throughout the project by:
- Helping to define and refine user requirements for the PCP process
- Reviewing proposed technological approaches and providing feedback at key stages
- Taking part in the evaluation and testing of prototypes during the PCP phases
- Exchanging knowledge and good practices with practitioners from across Europe
Participation in the UOG contributes to the development of solutions that improve coordination, communication and situational awareness in crowded or complex public spaces. This involvement helps ensure that the results are practical, user-centred and fully aligned with real operational needs.
